Motivate Your Employees With the Right Recognition Awards

How to Remove Programs From Startup

Most computers that run on windows operating systems experience one common problem, that the older they are the longer they take to boot or start. This comes as a result of the many programs that have been installed in the machine over a period of time. Each of these programs added on will always be included in the system when it is starting up. This also includes the trial versions you may have installed and are no longer being used.

New windows computers are also not spared as they can experience the same problem in certain circumstances. For instance when manufacturers install excessive programs like utilities and trial software on the start of the computer it slows down the booting process.

To make the machine boot or start faster it is therefore advisable to remove some of the unnecessary programs that take up memory. In other words they should be removed from the start up menu to make booting faster.

Many people do not know how to remove programs from startup but with these steps it should be easy. The first step is selecting the “Start” and “Run” on your machine. On the “Run” search text field type “msconfig” and then press “Enter”.

Select “continue” for Windows Vista and Windows 7, which allows the “System Configuration” to open up. You may need to have administrative privileges to access these parts.

Clicking on the “Startup” menu will allow you to view the list of programs that are configured to load when starting your computer. Here you can select by checking the boxes of the programs that you would like to remove from the start up. Once you are done selecting click on “Apply” and then press “OK”

To apply the new settings click on the “Restart” menu on the dialogue box to apply the new settings on your computer.

However you should be extra vigilant when removing programs to ensure you do not remove vital programs such as, security, firewalls and anti virus applications.
